at the moment, I am the only official user of the project, but hope to open it up as soon as I improve the back-end implimentation
Sept 16th, 2009 - I resumed development over the last week. Implimented MODREWRITES to allow for clean, simple URL's. Altered the paginator code to play nice with the new mod re-writes. Next up: Multi-user support!
May 09 - I long ago hit my 200 photo maximum on Flickr and decided that instead of paying the $20 anual fee... I was going to just build a sand-alone photo management system myself.
Mixedfoto is, for all intents and purposes, a proof of concept for my vision... based around a simple MySQLdatabase and alot of ajax/php... mixedfoto is perhaps my first forray into a legitimate online web tool... and I hope that, given time, it will be a widely-adopted and widely used tool for many photo enthusiasts who want something more professional than what the major photo sharing sites have to offer.
Unfortunately, This project is on temporary hold as I spend the next 7 weeks studying for the Ohio bar exam... Fortunately, this is not that long in the big scheme of things.
If you are interested in what the roadmap looks like, here are a few things I am planning on implimenting soon:
- mod-rewrites to allow users to have a clean url: i.e. (www.mixedfoto.com/photos/joel/)
- complete administrative backend that will support multiple-file uploads
- User-controlled display settings and support for multiple CSS themes.
- Custom slideshows?(a long shot... but it is an idea)
- Community/contact features? (distant future)
